So far, the vast majority of studies have almost exclusively focused on the conservation of blue water (Liu et al., 2009; Rockström and Gordon, 2001; Schuol et al., 2008; Schyns et al., 2019). However, in fact, 80% of the world's farmland is rainfed, which produces 60–80% of the world's food, and only consumes green water (Liu et al., 2009; Rost et al., 2008).
