Abstract

Nanoparticles of Zn0.5Ni0.5R0.02Fe1.98O4 , with R=Y, Gd and Eu, have been prepared by the combustion method. Mössbauer spectroscopy has been used in order to analyse substitution effect on hyperfine parameters. A small increase in the hyperfine field parameters and a strong decrease of the total resonant area have been observed, with respect to the pure Ni-Zn ferrite. Curie temperatures decrease and coercive fields increase with substitution. The adding of much large ionic radii rare earth ions, results in local distortion and disorder, enough to induce a softening of the network.
