Abstract

In the equilibrium conditions called CPE the letters PE stand for paraequilibrium. However, paraequilibrium plays no important role in the process for which CPE was introduced. The essential feature is the equilibration of carbon between α and γ under the constraint that the interface is immobile. In order to avoid confusion regarding the nature of paraequilibrium, the term CCE (constrained carbon equilibrium) is proposed instead of CPE.
