Abstract

Tests were carried out to determine the effects of a fungal strain onmarble specimens. The fungus was isolated from the air of the``Vallicelliana Library'' in Rome. After a certain period, chromatic changes were observed on the specimen surface. Fourier transforminfrared (FT-IR) spectra and term-gravimetric analyses (TGA) highlightedthe formation of calcium oxalates at the site of the chromatictransformations.
