Abstract
Abstract. In this article a German adaptation of the Temporal Satisfaction with Life Scale by Pavot, Diener, and Suh (1998) is presented. The Fragebogen zur temporalen Lebenszufriedenheit (FTL) measures global, cognitive assessment of retrospective, current, and prospective life satisfaction, with four analogously formulated items for each. The reliability (internal consistency, test-retest stability) and validity (factorial, convergent, and discriminant validity) of the FTL was examined in four separate studies with a sample ranging between N = 100 and N = 3245. The psychometric properties indicate a high-quality instrument. Taken together, the FTL is an economical measure of global life satisfaction which is suitable for deployment in, for instance, longitudinal large-scale studies.
