Dielectric properties of lead iodide

Abstract

Measurements of the dielectric properties of lead iodide powder, at 20° and at frequencies in the range 200 c./sec. to 300 kc./sec., indicate a dispersion of the dielectric constant of 4·3–5·2, with dielectric absorption significantly higher than that previously observed in alkali halides. The values of the real part of the dielectric constant are compared with the diverse values given for lead iodide in the literature, and a possible mechanism for the dielectric absorption is suggested.
