Bi2S3–BaTiO3/PVDF three-phase composites with high dielectric permittivity

Abstract

Novel three-phase percolative composites, with a ferroelectrics phase (BaTiO3) and semiconductor Bi2S3nanorods dispersed in a PVDF matrix, have been prepared using a simple blending and hot-pressing method. The variation of dielectric properties of the Bi2S3–BaTiO3/PVDF composites with frequency and temperature was also studied in detail. The composites are demonstrated to have significantly higher dielectric constants than those of bulk BaTiO3/PVDF, with a quite low percolation threshold. They are promising dielectric composites with high dielectric constants and low inorganic filler contents.
