Prediction of ordered and disordered states in colloidal dispersions

Abstract

Excess pressures and radial distribution functions of a monodisperse colloid are calculated from a statistical mechanical model using the Monte Carlo method to evaluate the configurational integrals. Particular regard is paid to the effects of variation of volume fraction and background electrolyte concentration on the structure of the system.
