Strong aggregation properties of novel naphthalocyanines

Abstract

The aggregation properties of naphthalocyanines having different ring substituents have been studied in solution. MNc(But)4 and MNc(OBun)4 showed moderate tendencies for aggregation (M = CuII, NiII, PdII and VIV[double bond, length half m-dash]O). However, novel naphthalocyanines such as MNc(CO2R)4 induced marked aggregation. Especially, MNc(CO2R)4 complexes (M = Cu, Pd and Ni) were found to exist exclusively in aggregated states without monomers even in highly diluted solutions.
