The authors analyse the outage probability over compound η−μ fading–log-normal shadowing radio channels. The gamma distribution is used as a substitute to the log-normal shadowing model, and new finite-integral expressions for the probability density and cumulative distribution functions of the composite η−μ – gamma distribution. Approximate estimates obtained by reducing the considered problem to that over generalised K-fading are also presented.
