Abstract
A study was made of the crystallization, morphology, and some defects of lithium formate. An interference method was employed in the determination of all the piezoelectric and linear electro-optic constants. The permittivities were also determined. The temperature of dehydration in a dry medium was found and the changes in the permittivity ε and loss-angle tangent tan δ during heating were measured. Lithium formate was found to be five times as effective as KDP crystals in simultaneous doubling of the emission frequency and Q switching of a laser emitting at λ=1.06 μ.
