Abstract

Translational energy spectra dependent on scattering angle have been measured for single-electron capture in the impact of doubly charged ions (Ar2+, Kr2+, Xe2+, impact energies 0.5-5 keV) on He, Ne or Ar. The projectile kinetic energy resolution was better than 1 eV (FWHM), and identification of the various reaction channels was supported by systematic variation of the metastable fractions in the respective primary-ion beams.
