Local and non-local spin susceptibilities of transition metals

The local and non-local spin susceptibilities with regard to lattice sites and orbitals, chi _nL,n'L', are calculated for transition metals using the muffin-tin potential model. Their general properties are discussed. It is found that chi _nL,n'L' provides an insight from the real space point of view into the qualitative aspect of the magnetism of transition metals. A discussion is also given of an induced magnetic moment at an impurity site in a host metal with a large exchange enhancement.
