Abstract

The minimum intensities of irradiation required to ignite wood, with and without the presence of a pilot flame, have been determined, and found to be approximately constant for nearly all species. Empirical expressions have been obtained which relate the time taken to ignite with the intensity of irradiation and the density of the wood for these two types of ignition.
