Feasibility of giant fiber-optic gyroscopes

Abstract

The availability of long-distance underground fiber-optic links opens a perspective of implementing interferometric fiber-optic gyroscopes embracing very large areas. We discuss the potential sensitivity, as well as some disturbances and approaches to overcome them.
