Derivation of the equations of motion of interacting parallel edge dislocations from a Hamiltonian

Abstract

The collective motion of interacting parallel straight edge dislocation is investigated. It is shown that the equation of motion of such a system can be cast into a canonical form. It leads to a global condition which can be applied for checking if the time step is small enough during the numerical integration of the equations of motion of the dislocations.
