Abstract

Band-structure variations in dilute Bi-Sb alloys have been investigated by studying the Shubnikov-de Haas quantum oscillations at low temperatures in magnetic fields up to 10 kG. Changes in the electron Fermi energy and band overlap in the dilute Bi-Sb system were determined for Sb concentration varying from 0.68 to 2.90 at.%. It was found that all the important band parameters show a nonlinear variation with the Sb concentration χ. In particular, the electron Fermi energy is a nonmonotonic function of χ.
