Abstract
Occurring under Puna-like living conditions on the saddle of Big Island (Hawai'i) a modified form of Verbascum thapsus L. is quite frequent. In a convergent way it is then rather similar physiognomically to the Silverswords (Argyroxiphium). This fact is significant for the rule that appropriate construction plans of life forms may serve as an example for adaptive neophytes.
