Abstract

In this study we demonstrate the possibility for application of a dendrimer to electronic and optical devices as a new organic material. We synthesized several dendrimers by simply changing the functional groups on the surface and applied them to a CO gas sensor, photodetector of visible light, and organic thin-film transistor. We found that ferrocene functional groups sensitively responded to CO gas, phenylethynyl functional groups increased the conductance when illuminated by visible light, and phenylacetylene rich in double bonds produced n-type FET characteristics when applied as an active layer in an organic thin film transistor.
