Abstract

A bright green photoluminescence with a peak at 540 nm was observed at low temperature in the α-phase ZnAl2S4 ternary compound grown by heating ZnS, Al and S powders. The emission is interpreted as arising from donor-acceptor(DA)-pair recombination. At room temperature the green emission is dominated by two weak emission bands in the infrared spectral region.
