Abstract

Molten salt electrorefining can in principle be used to purify silicon in a simple and inexpensive way. In the present work a melt containing calcium chloride, sodium chloride and calcium oxide at 850 {degree sign}C was used in electrochemical studies. The results indicate that the concept of silicon electrorefining in the melt mentioned above is possible.
