Synthesis of Polyurethane Prepolymers and Damping Property of Polyurethane/Epoxy Composites
A great deal of researches have been concentrated on synthesis, morphology and mechanical properties of polyurethane (PU) modified epoxy resin (EP) composites, but there is still few literature discussing directly about damping properties of PU/EP composites. In this research, polyurethane
prepolymer and polyurethane/epoxy prepolymer were synthesized. PU/EP composite cured with polyetheramine D230 was prepared and its morphology was observed by SEM and damping properties were investigated by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). SEM observation indicated that PU/EP composites showed
rather ductile fracture. DMA analysis indicated that the addition of PU into epoxy resin lowered the glass transition temperature of epoxy resin, and also affected the damping property of epoxy resin curing. PEG molecular weight also affected the damping property of PU/EP composites.
