Abstract

An existing lattice Boltzmann formulation of non-relativistic magnetohydrodynamics represents the magnetic field using a set of vector-valued distribution functions. By expressing the behaviour of this system using a basis of moments of the distribution functions, we derive an evolution equation for the electric field that coincides with the combination of Maxwell's equation, including the displacement current, and Ohm's law. Numerical experiments verify the propagation of electromagnetic waves radiated from an oscillating dipolar current.
