Abstract

An experimental investigation of possible B2 ordering in the Al-Cr system has been performed. Samples containing 58.4 to 67.5 at.% Cr have been heat treated at temperatures between 885 and 1000 °C and then quenched in water. The samples were examined by x-ray diffraction. Alloys containing 58.4 to 64.8 at.% Al that were quenched from 885 and 905 °C show lines in the x-ray diffraction patterns that are consistent with a B2-ordered body-centered cubic structure.
