Devising a research model to examine adoption of mobile payments: An extension of UTAUT2
Whilst adoption of mobile payments (m-payments) has been studied in several contexts, none of the existing research has attempted to systematically analyse the constructs used to date to develop a more contextually grounded research model. Therefore, this paper sought to extend an appropriate
model of adoption with theoretically grounded constructs. As UTAUT2 has recently been developed to translate UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) to the consumer context, and UTAUT has previously been used by m-payment adoption research, it was concluded that UTAUT2 would
be the most appropriate to employ. Based on current research findings on m-payment, m-banking, and m-commerce adoption, UTAUT2 was extended with self-efficacy, innovativeness, trialability, perceived risk and trust.
