Abstract

Literatures on bainite transformation have been reviewed. Although there are various aspects of the transformation which can be explained in terms of both displacive and diffusional models, the displacive model seems to be more appropriate for a comprehensive understanding of bainite transformation. The deviations from displacive characteristics such as dislocation configurations on the α⁄γ interfaces and the internal structures in bainite are thought to arise from the modifications during and/or after the transformation. Considering these aspects, models for bainite transformation are proposed.
