Some exact solutions for incompressible couple stress fluid flows

Abstract :

Available exact solutions for Navier-Stoke equations are very difficult to obtain due to the non linearity occurring in the partial differential equations. Most of the real fluid flows are non-Newtonian in nature and theory of couple stress fluids are formulated to solve certain non-Newtonian flows. But the equation representing couple stress fluid flows are highly nonlinear and in higher order than Navier-Stokes equation, so that available exact solutions are very rare. In this paper, several exact solutions four couple stress fluid flows are derived. These solutions can be utilized to obtain further insights in to the theory of couple stress fluid flows and also they can be used for checking the correctness of any approximate or numerical methods developed to solve such real flows.
