This study examined factors that affect family caregivers who looks after elderly total care work hours and care work stresses. The target analysis group was informal caregivers who cohabit with kin elderly. Also, explaining between care givers and care recipients were restricted only to spouse, daughter-in-law and children. For data analysis, this study used frequency analysis, ANOVA, and used Hierarchical Multiple Regression Analysis to analyze affecting factors in care work stress and care work hours. Especially, care work hours were dividedly examined by total care work hours per day and care work hours excluding household choirs. Major findings of this study are as follows. For total per day care work hours, it was unemployed, the age of the care recipients, and absence of co-care givers that showed proportionately affected total length of care work hours. Moreover, statistically significant variables affecting total care work hours except household choirs were caregiver’s age, employment status and care recipient’s age. For care work stress, health condition affected through out all 7 models, household income was significant only in some of the models. It also showed that setting up relationships between caregivers and care recipients were important as subjective satisfaction of the caregivers is considered an affecting factor of the caregiver’s stress. Degree of economic responsibility and care work hours also were considered significant variables affecting care work stress that length and intensity of burdens and hours aggravate care work stress. Based on the results, supporting caregivers to reduce working hours and in addition to alleviate caregivers’ stress, social aid in health and easing economic burden to help caregivers were proposed.
