Multi-objective Optimization Design of Tunnel Boring Machine's Edge Cutter Layout based on well-balanced Wear

TBM(tunnel boring machinery)is highly automated, the disk cutter layout design is the key to the fast and its efficiency excavation. Based on principles of cutters’ layout, and combined the existed research, proposing the variable-velocity spiral cutter layout design method. Based on the Wear difference minimization, objective optimization model is established for the edge disk cutter layout. First, optimizing thepolar radius and oblique angle of edge disk cutter, and then using the NSGA- II algorithm to optimize its polar angle.The TB880E model's cutter-head is used for example to redesign its layout of edge cutters. And compared the performance parameters: Radial force decreased by 57.1%;Overturning moment decreased by 95.89%; Edge Cutter wear variance decreased by 30.39%; The mass center of all cutters is more close to the geometric center of the cutter-head. Therefore, this method has a certain significance to guide the design of disc cutter layout.
