Logical Data Design

Relational Data Analysis is a technique for deriving data structures that are robust, unambiguous, free from redundant duplication, flexible and easy to maintain. It also has the following objectives: to identify dependencies between data elements;to produce unambiguous data representations;to eliminate redundant duplication of data;to identify associations between relationships;to provide a basis for shared data usage. The technique involves the application of a number of normalization rules to produce a set of normalized relations. These relations can be represented graphically as a Logical Data Structure or entity-relationship diagram.
