Robnor ResinLab from Swindon, England, has unveiled two new elastic systems free from isocyanate, plasticiser and hazard labelling, as alternatives to polyurethane encapsulants.

With its new 2C systems (GR100 and GR200), Swindon-based Robnor ResinLab is showcasing two alternatives to conventional polyurethane or silicone systems. What makes GR100 and GR200 special is that they are free from isocyanate, plasticiser and hazard labelling. GR100 with a hardness of A10 is softer than GR200, which has a hardness of A30 up to A35. The gel time at room temperature is 30 minutes for GR100 and just under 20 minutes for GR200.

According to Robnor ResinLab, the initial strength permitting further handling is achieved after three hours or one hour, respectively, and the final hardness is achieved in both systems after 24 hours. Hardening can be accelerated by heating; handling strength can be achieved after only one hour or 30 minutes, respectively, when heating to 60 °C. In contrast, processing is also possible at temperatures down to 0 °C.   These two new products can be used, for example, for casing applications in the electrical and electronics industry, as well as for encapsulation of cable connections.
