The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of marketing effectiveness in the NFDMA. NFDMA is a predominantly black organization composed of funeral directors and morticians. The marketing activities of the NFDMA were studied because the by-laws and code of ethics of the NFDMA stress that all state associations should conduct an annual intensified membership drive, and an annual report of this effort should be transmitted to the National Association. Although the national office had made concerted efforts to comply with the spirit of the by-laws and code of ethics, the membership had not been growing, and the national office continued to experience marketing and management difficulties. There Is no unanimity of values, goals, and objectives of the membership of this august body.
