The article argues that when companies offer and establish smart services, they do not only crate and shape offerings and supply, but they shape whole markets that have meaning to people. We use a human-centered design perspective to understand the meaning emerging process when smart services are created and offered. A major reason is that people increasingly want “…to lead a life of meaning…”, which emphasizes that it is the meaning of their life that matters.
