The choice of a measuring process for air pollutants depends on the substance to be measured, the properties it has, and the information to be gained from the measured values. Measurements must be carried out both at the location of formation of the air pollutants to determine emissions and at the location of effect to determine air quality. Pollutants occur in the different states: gaseous, liquid and solid. Accordingly, manifold measuring techniques are required. An overview is presented in Fig. 5.1.
