BMW and Daimler Merge Mobility Services
The BMW Group and Daimler AG have signed an agreement to merge all their business units for mobility services. This applies to all their on-demand services in the areas of car sharing, ride hailing, parking, charging and multimodality. Each company will hold a 50-percent stake in the joint-venture model. Together, they are aiming to become a leading provider of innovative mobility services. "Combining our mobility services as planned will create a unique digital ecosystem. This alliance will make it easier for our customers to discover the emission-free mobility of the future," say BMW’s CEO Krüger.
The joint venture intends to expand new digital business models. BMW and Daimler will combine Moovel and Reachnow for multimodal and on-demand mobility; Car2Go and DriveNow for car sharing; mytaxi, Chauffeur Privé, Clever Taxi and Beat for ride hailing; ParkNow and Parkmobile Group/Parkmobile LLC for parking services; as well as ChargeNow and Digital Charging Solutions for access to charging stations. "As pioneers in automotive engineering, we will not leave the task of shaping future urban mobility to others," promises Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG.
