Since early 60’s the environmental radioactivity monitoring network of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology has produced daily a set of data on the atmospheric radioactivity. Continuos monitoring of the atmospheric radioactivity — natural and artificial is provided by beta radiometry, gamma spectrometry and recently by radiochemical separation of daily and monthly samples of air particulate material, precipitation and atmospheric fallout. Briefly the main sampling program consists of: atmospheric fallout on the wetted cotton sampler, taken daily at more than 30 stations; air particulate material — at 5 city stations; subsamples from daily precipitation if it is >0.51/m2 — at 15 stations; a total monthly deposition on open vessel sampler — at 12 stations.
