Renault Trucks has unveiled a multimodal solution for the last mile. The E-Tech Master Optimodale system combines an electric van with an electric cargo bike and a drone.

Renault Trucks has designed the E-Tech Master Optimodale concept primarily for inner-city delivery transport. According to the manufacturer, it is the first multimodal and battery-electric mobility concept for the last mile. It is designed for two people and consists of the LWB L3H1 E-Tech Master 3.5-t electric van in a version manufactured by Horton Commercials, an eBullitt cargo bike and a parcel drone from Uvatek. Here, the Luton flatbed truck accommodates the parcels as well as the eCargo bike and drone.

The van is powered by the R75 electric motor, which produces 57 kW (76 PS). With a 33-kWh battery, it is said to bring it to a range of 130 km. The new 52-kWh battery is also to be available. The electric cargo bike can be used to transport packages of up to 100 kg in a box. Here, the range is around 50 km. The battery can be removed and recharged to 50 % within 1 h, to 80 % after 2 h, and to 100 % in 4 h. The drone can be launched via an extendable platform and can carry packages up to 2 kg. It is mainly intended for the delivery of vital medicines or relief supplies to difficult or inaccessible places.
