Vick, the 30 for 30 documentary tells a story of American redemption, the Michael Vick saga, and the notorious dog-fighting ring. Director Stanley Nelson does a commendable job chronicling the life of the former NFL quarterback, from his greatest moments to hitting rock bottom due to serious lapses in judgment. In doing so, the film intertwines racial barriers, society, and sports, suggesting that black athletes have the potential to make a tremendous impact in any number of areas. Nelson’s film attempts to take an objective look at the life of Vick, thus allowing the viewer to determine for him or herself whether Vick’s story is really one of redemption. …
