Ocean loading tides introduce earth surface displacements at the centimetre level. We show that these effects can be recovered from GP5 data using long time-series from Precise Point Positioning solutions. The formal uncertainty of the observed ocean loading parameters can be as low as half a millimetre. Observations from 11 stations are used.We investigate whether the GPS time-series show any impact of geocentre tides. We find that this is not the case and attribute the negative finding to the way the orbit data are prepared.Large perturbations exist at sidereal periods. We suppose that they are related to once and twice per revolution orbit errors. Other perturbations might arise due to multipathing near a receiver antenna.
