Zusammenfassung

Das Kapitel widmet sich der Analyse der Veränderungen in der Qualität der Individualisierung in den mittel- und osteuropäischen (MOE10) Ländern nach ihrem Beitritt zur Europäischen Union in den Jahren 2004 und 2007. Die Leithypothese der Analyse ist, dass die Veränderungen der Übertragung des gemeinschaftlichen Besitzstandes der Union auf die MOEs folgen mussten. Die auf diese Weise umgesetzte Europäisierung wurde weithin als Verbesserung der Effizienz der Regierungsführung und folglich der Qualität der Individualisierung in der Region dargestellt. Die Hypothese wurde durch synchrone und diachrone Vergleiche unter Verwendung der Ergebnisse von Längsschnittstudien über die „alten“ (EU15) und „neuen“ (MOE10) Mitgliedsstaaten getestet. Die Ergebnisse der Vergleiche bestätigen die Hypothese nicht. Die Veränderungen in der Regierungsführung haben die Individualisierung in den „alten“ und „neuen“ EU-Mitgliedsstaaten in ähnlicher Weise beeinflusst. Bei den Vergleichen wurde sogar ein gewisser Rückgang der Qualität der Individualisierung in beiden Ländergruppen festgestellt, und zwar fast mit der gleichen Intensität.
