With the start of construction of the Test Center Energy, Seat intends to demonstrate its commitment in the field of electric mobility. The carmaker is investing more than seven million euros in the laboratory at the Martorell plant in Spain. Various energy systems for electric and hybrid vehicles will be developed and tested there. The future building, which is scheduled for completion in April 2021, will cover 1500 m
2 and is expected to provide a test capacity of up to 1.3 MW. It includes various test areas where it will be possible to evaluate cell modules with lithium-ion technology, medium and high-voltage batteries, and various chargers used in the mentioned range of electric vehicles. In addition, several climate chambers are planned to test the batteries and modules under extreme temperature conditions.
