Stellantis and Svolt have announced a partnership. The battery manufacturer will provide battery cells, high-voltage storage and battery management systems for the company's 14 brands - including Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroen, Fiat, Maserati, Opel or Peugeot. The lithium-ion batteries are to be supplied by Chinese battery manufacturer Svolt Energy Technology from 2025. For this purpose, the manufacturer will use its production capacities in China and its future production capacities in Europe, for example in the German state of Saarland. The battery chemistry is to include a high energy density option and a nickel-based, cobalt-free alternative. Four flexible BEV platforms (STLA Small, Medium, Large and Frame) and a scalable family of three electric drive modules and standardized battery packs are to be developed as part of the electrification strategy.
