Abstract

This chapter proposed the components, behavior, and practical applications of a novel large-span structure called cassette structure. Composed of open-web sandwich slabs and grid frame walls, the cassette structure can reach over 30 m spans with only a floor system height of 1–1.5 m, much lower than current frame structures, and shows a good seismic performance. The test results of the open-web sandwich slab and grid frame wall were discussed, and the entire structural performances of the cassette structure under earthquakes were analyzed and assessed based on the test results.
