This issue completes Vol 10 of Contemporary Islam. It seems appropriate after a succcesful decade that we recognize the efforts the Founding Editor, Professor Gabriele Marranci. He had a vision to create a top tier journal that focused on social science, especially anthropological, approaches to the study of Islam. Under his leadership, Contemporary Islam became an internationally respected journal. Many top scholars have contributed to its pages and its editorial board represents leading scholars from around the world. With such a journal, the academics focused on the lives of Muslim congealed as a community. We owe Professor Marranci a debt of gratitude that can only be acknowledged but never repaid. We also recognize the efforts of Professor Daniel Varisco, who in recent years contributed to the management of the journal. …
