Valeo has introduced a prototype of the autonomous electric delivery droid "eDeliver4U," developed in collaboration with Meituan Dianping, China's e- commerce platform for services, which runs the Meituan Waimai food delivery service. With a length of 2.80 m, a width of 1.20 m and a height of 1.70 m, the droid can deliver up to 17 meals per trip while autonomously navigating dense and complex urban environments at about 12 km/h. With a range of around 100 km, this prototype is intended to give an idea of what home delivery could look like in the near future, especially in the emerging zero-emission zones around the world. Meituan Dianping's connected delivery box will enable secure delivery to the end customer, who will be able to book via a smartphone application. The droid works autonomously with perception systems that use algorithms and sensors. It is equipped with four Scala laser scanners, a front camera, two fisheye cameras, two radars and six ultrasonic sensors, as well as software and artificial intelligence. The electrified chassis has a 48-V motor.
