Project Management Practices in Polish Nonprofit Organisations

This paper presents a summary of the level of adoption of different project management tools and approaches in Polish Nonprofit Organisations. It is based on the responses from 133 polish NGOs in March 2018. The results are compared with similar work on International Development projects to define if the level of adoption of PM practices is different in polish nonprofit sector and if there is a difference in the dependence of project management maturity on the internal project success. Various aspects of project management throughout entire project cycle were evaluated: project initiation, project definition, project implementation and project evaluation. The research concludes with several outcomes. Polish NGOs adapted project management practices to the lower extent than International Development projects. Yet, different tools influence the project success comparably. There is a lack of knowledge about project management among polish NGOs, which might be an important reason behind their low performance on international arena. Paper brings also a broad perspective on the level of adoption of different project management tools and practices that was not evaluated before.
