Abstract

Das Kapitel geht auf die gegensätzlichen Ansätze der Regierungen Trump und Biden gegenüber China ein und beleuchtet Trumps Handelskrieg und seine "America first" -Politik im Gegensatz zu Bidens Fokus auf Bündnisse und wirtschaftlichen Wettbewerb. Darin werden Chinas Reaktionen auf diese Politik und die zugrunde liegenden strukturellen Konflikte in den US-chinesischen Beziehungen untersucht. Das Kapitel schließt mit einer Reflexion über die Zukunft der Beziehungen und betont die Notwendigkeit eines Pragmatismus und eines ausgewogenen Ansatzes von Wettbewerb und Zusammenarbeit.
