Abstract

Companies must deploy their resources in activity centers located in industrial and commercial facilities taking several forms: plants, distribution centers, warehouses, points of sale, transportation terminals, transshipment centers, and so on. They are the nodes of the company’s internal supply chain network. In this chapter, after examining the nature of facilities and activity centers, we study design problems related to facility layout and location.
