Abstract
The paper aims at giving an overall picture about the effects of climate change on the military. It describes the results of a number of researches related to these challenges the military has to face. It argues that for military bases, the use of renewable energy (especially solar cells) is cost-effective, and in line with the modernization of the Army, ‘Green barracks’ programme has been launched in Hungary. The paper also reveals the importance of adequate military clothing for soldiers that may tackle the effects of the extreme ambient temperatures.
