Simulation of Electrofusion Parameters of PE Saddle Pipe Based on Finite Element Analysis of Temperature Field

Abstract

This paper compares the electrofusion welding of PE saddle pipe with that of conventional straight pipe, and many differences are identified under the two structure types. Then, a one-dimensional axisymmetric transient heat transfer model and a three-dimensional model of saddle pipe during electrofusion welding are established. Finite element (FE) software is used to analyze the relationship between the distribution of resistance wire, the material of resistance wire, the ambient temperature, and the formation and evolution of electrofusion temperature field. Based on FE analysis results, this paper points out possible problems of welding quality due to the distribution of resistance wire and the selection of wire materials, which can serve as reference for the formulation and the optimization of actual process parameters.
